Riding the bus or train

Boarding, paying, and getting off at the right stop.

Before you board

Check the line number and direction on the sign. Have your ticket, card, or app ready to tap or show.

Getting on

Let people off first, then board and tap/show your fare. Move past the doors so others can get on.

Finding a spot

Take any open seat; offer priority seats to those who need them. Standing? Hold a rail.

Your stop

Track the announced stops or a maps app. Press the stop button a bit before yours and move toward the doors.

Good to know: Unsure which stop? “Does this go to [place]?” to the driver or a rider is totally fine.
